CHAMPIONS! The squad met at 11am to travel to Woking which was a long distance away so an early departure would mean maximum preparation time. The feeling in the team was all positive as form was good and Old Parmiterians knew if they brought their best they had a great chance in winning the match and lifting the trophy. The boys in claret and sky blue started positively and went all out attack, non-stop pressing to test Broomfield early on and it paid off as gaffer John Mansford put his side 1-0 up by heading in a corner.
We conceded pretty much straight away from a through ball which we believed was offside but we should know by now always play to the whistle . We score again from mardi our main attacking player who was outstanding on the day so we go in at half time 2-1 . We have an inspiring team talk from John and Ross with our intentions don’t concede and if we score next we win the game.
The second half saw relentless attacking, as Broomfield only had one chance and Parms scored four second half goals. It could have been more, but credit to Broomfield they kept going and were not in the final for no reason. Mykey Marsden with two very well taken goals, another from Redon Abazi and an own goal from their centre back, which got over a million views on 4-4-3's Instagram page, saw the score finish 6-1.
All in all it was a great day out where the 8th XI learned a lot about themselves, and will look to take that into their future attempts at winning the league . Every player was minimum 8/9 out of 10 most, with many players having their best game for Parms so far. Man-of-the-match Alfie Creagan was nominated by the ref, the opposition captain and the two AFA officials. It's hard to believe he is only 16. Parms will have to guard against complacency, and take each match as it comes, with the next team up our very own Old Parmiterians 9th XI next Saturday.
