A GREAT EVENING AT THE O’s

Last Friday 127 people attended the OPFC Annual Supper at the dining suite at Leyton Orient FC. It was the 126th year of OPFC in what was a relatively good season. Nearly all sides were represented ,which was a great effort.

The bar opened at 6pm and without too much cajoling the formal evening of 3 course meal , awards and speeches started on time at 7:30pm.

The MC was our Chairman , Paul Mitchell, who started off by welcoming everyone and calling out the first couple of awards during the starter of King Prawn Cocktail. I think several questioned the use of the word ‘King’.

Paul was followed by our esteemed El Presidente Robinson , who was kitted out in his official OPFC uniform of red/blue side striped jacket. El Presidente spoke briefly about the history of the supper, mixed with some hilarious anecdotes, plus some facts from this season and some good stories.

Always a hard act to follow but 1st X1 captain and utility player, Chris Scherer , did a great job with a summary of each team . He interacted brilliantly with the floor and looks like he has the role for many years.

A huge thanks goes to family Robinson and Brendan Kelly for organising the seating and table plan. Thanks also to all the speakers , Francis for organising the awards and plaques and the staff on duty for the service provided. Thanks also to all those in attendance ,as their respect shown to the speakers was a credit to themselves and the Club, which has not been the case in the past.

A live 200 Club draw was made and 3 scratchcards sold to help fund the evening.

Several messages have been received from attendees saying what a good evening it was. Below are the various award winners in no particular order.
