Below is the ‘live’ draw which unfortunately resembled the recent UEFA Champions league fiasco ,in that there was an administration malfunction. The two original winners have been contacted and will be paid out ! If cannot open ,please let me know and I will forward separately. Click this link to view the live draw, conducted by Club Chairman Paul Mitchell
As usual, below is a brief resume of the above, who I will be contacting separately in the usual manner.
Paul Medleycott - OP Society Committee member for 20 years plus and now oversees the Parmiters Purse. Former Bethnal Green pupil and star swimmer!
Joan Apicella - unsure of Joan’s footballing skills but I do know she will open this email
before Alan ! Alan is one of three brothers who all played for the successful 1st X1 in the 70/80’s. Alan will say he was the best and his left back career was sadly cut short by injury. Alan continues to support numerous OPFC events and is an original Bethnal Green schoolboy.
Martin Rabenau - was a speedy and strong midfield/ forward in the very successful 70’s 1st X1 finally retiring in the 80’s. Martin is a former Bethnal Green schoolboy. He later taught Chemistry and PE at the School.
Brian Dooley - a key part of our current 8th X1 ,usually playing in defence. Brian was Captain/Manager of the side until recently when he stood down but carried on doing the Team administration. A good , reliable Club member.
Sue Ford - again not sure of Sue’s footballing talents but her partner, John Stewart was a key member of Roca’s 8th X1 army in the 90’s ,when in the mid 90’s they won the treble in one season! John was one of a key forwards , who could well have played considerably higher. He continues to attend various OPFC functions.
We have also been able to give a further 11 x £100 to those below in a bonus draw, who came out of the draw on Saturday. Yes, there was a further Administration malfunction. I will be contacting the following separately.
No 132 Peter Chapman - central defender in the SAL 1st X1 Division One champions side in 1996/7. Later on played for the Senior Vets. Regularly supports OPFC events
No 66 John Heuston - midfielder in the middle X1’s in the 60/70’s. Finished his career in the Vets in the 80’s.
No 243 Matt Bowen - Senior player in our Herts Senior County side at Garston. Also is their coach and team administrator. Our only Garston 200 Club member to date !
No 237 Paul Jones - prolific goal scorer in the lower X1’s in the 80’s. Became 12th man for the 1st X1 in the 90’s and won several medals. Good Clubman and supporter of OPFC events. Former BG pupil.
No 184 Terry Taylor - midfielder/striker in the 1st/2nd X1’s in the 80/90’s. Can be often heard describing his worldy goal at Leyton Orient in 2019. Instrumental in forming the OPFC Legends.
No 177 Mark Penfold - committed and combative centre half and captain of the higher X1’s in the 80’s. Supports OPFC events despite being Chairman of West Essex FC.
No 210 Ted Eveniss - cultured left back in the 50/60/70’s. Now resides in France . Former BG pupil.
No 107 Paul Mitchell - 1st X1 manager, captain and player in the 70/80/90’s. Current Chairman and one of the famous five in the 1000+ games club for OPFC . Also represented the AFA 50+ times. I could go on !
No 15 Bob Bennett - goalkeeper in the middle X1’s in the 60/70/80’s. Also wicketkeeper for the now defunct OP cricket side.
No 219 John Smiles - midfield maestro of old rivals Old Monovians and regular supporter of OPFC events. Now best known as our Presidents common law drinking partner.
No 249 Jake King - elegant midfielder who returned last season after a 10 year absence, when he played at a higher level. Currently playing in our 1st X1.
The above was only possible due to the fantastic support by every member so on behalf of OPFC, have a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.
