Dean Drummond passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. He played for the club during 1980s, 90s and 2000s. To say he was always smiling and joking was un understatement. Both on and off the pitch you could hear him laughing and joking. This is a massive loss for someone so full of life.
From Paul Mitchell Chairman OPFC
I first met Dean when he came to the school as a gangly 11 year old to whom I gave some football coaching. Little did I know then how many games we would play together for OPFC and how much I’d come to love his irrepressible humour and presence. My memories of him are overwhelmingly humorous. A fierce competitor, who would never shirk a challenge but would then appear in the showers with flip flops and a shower cap protecting the ‘fro!
We had shared musical tastes; I told him which song to play on his wedding day…he said he’d already picked one ,it was the same tune!
One thing is sure; if there’s an afterlife there will be a lot of goalkeepers up there wincing in anticipation! I loved you Deano, as did many others at the club. Rest well brother.
