Yesterday saw some recognition for a couple of young players from our Reserve XI, who were selected for the under 18 squad of the AFA county squad off the back of their appearances in the Amateur Football Combination Senior Division 2 North for Old Parmiterians. Daniel Muela and Abdelghani Khaldoun were the two selected, as their regular appearances on the team sheet at such a high level in senior amateur football while only being 17-years-old piqued the interest of the county coach, Pat Folan.
Both players came on at half time in what ended up being a defeat to Bedfordshire FA, but should both be proud of a first appearance at this level in recognition of their efforts at club level this season. Muela in particular had some impressive flashes and drew the praise of the small crowd that had come to watch at the Kempston Rovers FC ground.
A massive congratulations from everyone at the club and lets hope that some more young players at the club get the opportunity to join Muela and Khaldoun in representing the AFA team at county level.
