The wet and windy conditions played their
part in how some of the results shaped up but whilst it wasnt all bad, we
certainly had the opportunity in all games to have come out on top. The 1st team
seemed to be well in control in their game in the first half going ahead through
Scott Lewis. Unfortunately midway through the second half two goals were concede
in the space of 2 minutes which effectively lost the game which we should have
won. There were 3 good chances to draw level and even win the game but none were
taken and so we lose out our top spot of the division for the 1st time this
season. The 2nds found the going very easy in their LOB cup match against
Ignatians going in 6-0 at half time and easing off in the second half. Dave
Stevens was the MOM with 5 goals which takes him to the 15 goal mark for the
season. The more difficult games will come in the later stages of the cups so at
least they will go into them with great confidence.
The 4ths had enough chances to have
buried Mill Hill under a double digit win. Unfortunately they couldnt make
the opportunities count and it was Mill Hill who took the lead with a
speculative shot. Eventually the ball did go in but it seemed like a defeat with
all those missed chances. This week the big test comes at table leaders
Egbertians. The 5ths had the best performance of the day in the Old Boys Cup
coming back from 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go to take the tie into extra time
and then scored twice to win it in style. The now meet Old Finchleians at home
on 9 January. The 8ths continued their good form with a 3-1 over Latymer. It was
a steady if unspectacular performance against a team they beat 8-2 earlier in
the season. Highlight was a stunning shot by Lawrence Lynch who seemed very
happy about it whilst munching on one of Colins Burgers! The 9ths will consider
themselves very unlucky not to win this game which they dominated but couldnt
really score. In the end it took goalie Richard Bush to show them how with a
kick that bounced once over the opposing keeper. I dont know the last keeper
to do that but it was a long time ago, possibly Paul Holland of the 1sts. In the
end they succumbed to a last minute winner which they didnt deserve.
The Vets B game survived the rain at Low
Hall but they may have wished it didnt as they slumped to a defeat. The
performance wasnt helped by our keeper getting himself sent off unnecessarily
which made it more of an uphill struggle for the team. They remain 3 points
clear at the top.

- Christmas celebration drinks will be held
at the Vibe Bar in Brick Lane E1. We are going for Saturday 19 December as
the previous week is already booked up. Entrance is free to us and we will
