If you need to buy shorts and socks you can also get them from me.
Everyone must play in the club colours.
Well the weather certainly had its say
as it poured down during the second half which might explain why we didnt win
all of the league games which we could have done given the circumstances. The
1sts followed up their fine win of last week with a hard fought one at Parkfield
to break their league duck. Scored a beautiful goal in the first minute finished
superbly by Lewis Jones after some good one touch play, a 3-1 lead should have
resulted in an easy win. Not so as a dubious penalty brought Parkfield back into
the game and an equaliser then followed so we had to dig deep to prise out a
winner to give us all 3 deserved points. This week sees them on the road to
Godalming (where is that!) to play at Charterhouse public school so lets hope
the good form continues. The seconds picked up a point against Queen Mary but it
should have been all 3 as we dominated play but failed to convert more of the
chances on offer, still there is a long way to go in that league. The 3rds again
made hard work of beating Ignatians as they kept clawing their way back into the
game, (very annoying that) to equalise twice before we made the game safe in the
second half to progress in the LOB cup. The 4ths really should have beaten Old
Buckwellians as at 2-1 they had enough chances to wrap it up but with the rain
and wind we couldnt hold onto the slim lead and had to settle for the point.
Still they remain undefeated which is what counts. The 5ths picked up their
first league point but again that should have been all 3 as they missed a
penalty which could have sealed a win. They do seem to be scoring plenty of
goals but have yet to keep a clean sheet. The 6ths had a narrow win in the AFA
cup against Enfield with a 30 yard goal from Billy Beech to help in the process.
It could have been more but in the end Tony Peers in the centre of defence kept
things tight to ensure a safe passage to the next round. Yet another 14
goals in the 7th team game but this time they nearly all were conceded as the
Vets showed the youngsters how to play football and pass the ball. It was a
salutary lesson for those young players that dont pass the ball and consider its all
about fitness. Think again! Finally the A Vets went crashing out of the league
cup against Dunmow as they took the lead in the first minute but failed to keep
it for more than 5 minutes. Whilst conceding goals to a much younger side,
however they
did score a 25 yard free kick from Paul Mitchell to show for their toils.
