Usual set of wins and losses with the 1st team
getting a well deserved win at bottom placed Enfield which relegates them and
gives us a chance of a shot at the title. The team played well and were in
control for all of the game and could have had more goals had they not taken
their foot off the gas. It keeps them in 3rd pace, 5 points off top placed
Albanian but with so many games to be played against each other the other teams
are going to drop points along the way and it is a matter of which of them comes
through unscathed. We have 4 to play and need to win them all, it is getting
interesting.... The seconds had a good close fought game on a mudbath of a pitch
with Aloysians and were unlucky not to come away with a point. Unfortunately we
could not take any of the chances on offer. The 4ths seemed to have lost their
way recently with results which reflected their form at the start of the season.
All the good defensive play they gained in the middle of the season seems to be
forgotten so with a cup final in 3 weeks they certainly need some form soon. The
5ths continued the good work of the previous weeks cup final win with another
against Aloysians. Solid team performance by all and a couple of goals from
Andrew Strode was enough to take the 3 points. The 6ths were unlucky to take
nothing from their game with Hale End with some strange refereeing decisions
denied them goals and gifted the opposition one to give Hale End 3 very lucky
points.
The 7ths recorded a good win against 2nd
placed Enfield which follws up their draw with highly placed Minchendenians 2
weeks ago. It is a shame that they havnt taken the same form against lower
placed opponents but they should end up mid table. The 8ths by contrast are
struggling and this was highlighted by the fact that they beat Latymer away 7-0
and this time lost 4-1 at home. They need to get better organised on the field
of play and make more of the talent they have. A combined team run by Mick
Fletcher had the better of a draw against Lea Valley a team looking to join the
league next season. Onto the Vets, with the A team waterlogged at Benfleet, the
B team still struggled against William Fitt despite having a couple of A teamers
in Luck and Mitchell. Both on the bench till the second half, they couldnt
rescue a point for the team. The C team though managed a solid 2-0 win over
Dunmow despite having a few players missing. The 3 points helps to keep them in
the middle of the table which would be a good finish for them.

- Next committee meeting Tuesday 22 April
starting 8.00pm at Douglas Eyre. MAKE A NOTE OF THE CHANGE OF DATE. Please make sure your team is represented.
A note to all those that owe fines, subs and
other monies collected. At the end of the season there will be a letter sent to
the AFA and various leagues detailing the players information and amounts owed.
This is then circulated to all the local leagues and counties and you will not
be able to play for any other club until we are reimbursed, otherwise that club
is held liable. It is not a threat
but a fact so if you dont want to be barred from playing (and it covers ALL
football) and have to sort it out with the F.A., pay up what is owed to the
club now, its a lot easier.
NEXT SEASON
For those of you who want to be part
of the club next year registration forms are enclosed asking you to register for
the following season with a joining fee. Part of the deal will be that next
season we will be telling those that join that they will be signing up to play
for the club not a specific team. We will also want only those that do not owe
fines or subs and those that have not let us down in any way this or in previous
seasons through poor discipline or continually crying off late. We will also be
looking for Managers to run the teams that can not only manage the players
efficiently but also administer the collection of subs as the club requires.
