If you need to buy shorts and socks you can also get them from me.
Everyone must play in the club colours.
Well it was another difficult week
conditions wise as the grounds got heavier with the rain midweek followed up
with a heavy downpour just before kickoff. Nonetheless we managed to get some
good results but where we lost we lost heavily. The 1st team went to public
school Charterhouse and certainly had their eyes opened by the splendour of the
place and with a good playing surface easily out matched their rivals with good
football but only had one goal to show for it. A goal for the home team was an
injustice and it took the game to extra time before 4 goals in a spell on 20
minutes wrapped up the tie for us. Robbie Carroll had a superb match at the
heart of defence where Barry Stevens was missing. In all another good day on the
road. The seconds were found short of several key players against a strong
Minchendenians side who took full advantage of our weakness. It probably didnt
help that their 1st team game was called off so they could have been stronger
than usual but another tough game awaits this week in the shape of Parkfield.
The 3rds seem to have got the knack of winning as they went to Pork Chop hill,
that is the name of the pitch at Mill Hill which is shaped in that way. Normally
heavy they played well as a unit to get a well deserved win this time taking
most of their chances. The 4ths had to roll up their sleeves to take a very well
contested tie against Wilsonians. 1-1 with 20 minutes to go on a bog of a pitch
that is pitch 9 they managed to find the goal to win the tie and take themselves
to the quarter finals. A well done to Daniel Osborne who volunteered to go in
goal as Luke Berry the normal keeper was injured.
The 5ths Jekyll and Hyde season goes
on as they competed well with a strong Winchmore Hill side to go in 1-1 at half
time. Again something happens at half time as the team disintegrates in the
second half to let them runaway with the tie 8-3, could it be fitness??? The
6ths carried on their good work with another workmanlike performance at Mill
Hill to come away with a 2-1 result against the side placed second, this time
Lawrence Henry bagged a couple to move them up to third in table. The 7ths found
themselves short of players due to players not being responsible enough on the
day and so had to make do with what they had. It still shows that there are a
number of players that shouldnt be playing for the club because of their obvious
lack of commitment. The Vets finally found their form at last with a thumping
win over Dunmow who had a slightly different side from the previous week. Dean
Drummond was on fire this time and netted a hattrick and the old silver fox that
is John Cowen pooped in one for the scrapbook. Finally the B Vets came away from
the game with 3 points at Sanders which in all truth should have been more
convincing but in the end settled for a narrow win and a move up the table after
the problems of the past few weeks.
