Everyone must play in the club colours.
We had some cracking results and plenty of goals
for all the teams and some really good results as well, all giving confidence
for the season ahead. The 1st team scored freely against a useful Ignatians side
with the pick of the goals from Sean Dardis who hit a tremendous shot across the
goalie into the far top corner. They were also missing 4 players and the young
replacements that came in did exceptionally well to put pressure on the more
regular players. The reserves with some new faces also scored freely as they
hammered Ignatians 8-0 with a striker called Sam Bird scoring 5 times on his
debut. After last weeks blank he is just the player they needed to convert
possession into goals and they did it in some style. In all its looking good at
the top end for a change so lets hope they can take that form into the season
ahead. The 3rds also got in on the act starting with an early goal but then
conceding 2 to poor defensive errors. With the wind in their backs in the second
half they took the chances on offer to hammer Hale End who play in the division
above and so boost their confidence. The 4ths had the better of their game also
against Hale End but had to settle for a draw after taking the lead twice. With
6 new players they will take a while to settle but with a backbone of experience
in the side their prospects are also looking good. To the 5ths with a make shift
side they more than matched Winchmore Hill in the first half but against the
wind they wilted in the second half to lose 5-2 but it was a good performance
with a mixture of players and as there will be better players to come down from
the higher teams that will strengthen the squad. The 6ths had a similar tale
with a strong first half showing but not holding out against the wind in the
second half.
Onto the Vets where the A team coasted to a 6-0
win against a Dunmow Reserve team but still played well with some new faces
added to the squad. Paul Mitchell added a hattrick and newboy John Ward added a
couple on his debut. The B Vets also were in the goals with a fine 5-2 win over
Blackmore despite having lost their keeper in the morning. A hattrick from Jon
Walsh and a couple from Ray George has given them an edge for the season ahead
best part this week was the team spirit was much better.
The 200 Club is looking for new members. It costs just
£1 per month per number and there is over £1000 in prize money and it helps the
club's finances. If interested contact Max Lea on 0208 954 0708
