Everyone must play in the club colours.
A poor week for most teams which seems
to be occurring every other week. With over 20 players missing either through
injury or work or other reason its no wonder we struggle to get a good set of
results. We need more players to be available on a weekly basis if we are to
achieve any success this season otherwise it will be a hit and miss affair. We
cant afford to have too many part time players in any team otherwise teams find
they have 16 players one week and 10 the next.
Onto the results with the 1sts putting
up a good fight at Beals despite playing with 10 men over the last 20 minutes
due to injury they could not prise out an equaliser. They battled hard to keep
in the game coming from behind twice but the bit of luck required to do it just
wasnt there. The seconds played into the wind in the first half and found
themselves 2-0 down at half time against a strong Nottsborough side. They sat
back in the second half and we took control but couldnt convert any of the
chances on offer and bowed out of the AFA cup. The 3rds continue on their merry
way with a convincing win in the LOB cup against Tollys hammering 6 goals past
them to go through to the next round. Star of the show was Carl Staines who
scored twice and dominated the midfield with his pace and fitness. the 4ths drew
a blank for the first time which was unusual considering the number of goals
scored in the previous 2 games. A missed penalty and hitting the post twice
didnt help and then Wood Green almost stole a winner near the end. They can try
again this week as they play them again in the return fixture. The 5ths were
also unlucky not to win as they had the lions share of play and chances but
couldnt convert into goals and so Leyton then stole the game with a solitary
effort, an own goal. The 6ths should have sneaked a win at Minchendenians but a
late goal gave them a share of the points when 3 were there for the taking. The
7ths were even more unlucky coming back from 2-0 down in the last minute to 2-2
only then to present the oppo with a winner from a poor call for the ball
straight from the kick off. When your lucks out it shows.
The Vets suffered from late
withdrawals and injuries as those that played probably shouldnt. The A team were
on top even though they were 2-1 down but with 3 players on the field injured
and making up the numbers a 3 goal spurt from Herongate in 5 minutes wrapped
things up for them. The B team fared worse with 3 players turning up 20 minutes
into the game and then some poor goalkeeping and defending allowed the opponents
to walk away with the game without much of a fight. Lets see what this week
brings and those see if we can find some of those missing players!
The 200 Club is looking for new members. It costs just
£1 per month per number and there is over £1000 in prize money and it helps the
club's finances. If interested contact Max Lea on 0208 954 0708
