Overall not a good week with some below
par and some poor performances but we did struggle once again for players
despite having 2 teams spare as late cryoffs again came to make life difficult
for some teams........why do they always leave it till the last moment? The
thirds were one side that struggled to get 11 players on the park at kick off
but they just about managed it and took all 3 points in a tight game against
Ignatians. It gives them a faint chance of a league title but they will have to
win their last 4 games to do it. The 5ths also had a win against Latymer but
they did make it difficult for themselves going a goal behind early on before
overhauling them in the second half. The 1sts struggled for players with late
cryoffs and this showed in their play with several key players missing. They
went behind in the first half and could have gone further behind as HAC had 2
other opportunities to score with one on ones. However we clawed our way back in
the second half and then bombarded them but couldnt get the extra goal needed.
The seconds found the going tough at Beals although they had a stronger side on
paper than the previous week. 4-0 down in 15 minutes through individual mistakes
meant it was game over and when the keeper got injured in the second half there
was no way back. The 4ths had the better of the game against Hale End but again
it was a draw, the 4th between the sides in 2 seasons who were top before the
start of play. So it was a good point but they wished it could have been all 3
and with a bit more luck it might have been.
The 7ths lost out in a 7 goal thriller at
Edmontonians which Shaun Crowe described as the best game of football he's
played in, I cant say then how good that was but despite the result everyone
enjoyed themselves. The 8ths went to a new team called Goffs Old Boys and got
hammered, mainly because yet again there was no goalie, hopefully Jamie will
return this week! The A Vets tried and tried but just couldnt score against
bottom team Britannia and so 3 points slipped away in their quest to rise up the
table whilst the C Vets gave the top team Newbury Park a game but just couldnt
find the net at the right time to put them under any sort of pressure.
- Fines outstanding: O.Hyatt £8,
D.Anglin £16, R.Owusu £8, J.Harrison £49,
T.Rolt £8, R.Thomas £8, M.Fook £8, C.Pennell
£8, K.Rankin £8
- Next committee meeting Tuesday 11 March
starting 8.00pm at Douglas Eyre. Please make sure your team is represented.
A note to all those that owe fines, subs and
other monies collected. At the end of the season there will be a letter sent to
the AFA and various leagues detailing the players information and amounts owed.
This is then circulated to all the local leagues and counties and you will not
be able to play for any other club until we are reimbursed, otherwise that club
is held liable. It is not a threat
but a fact so if you dont want to be barred from playing (and it covers ALL
football) and have to sort it out with the F.A., pay up what is owed to the
club now, its a lot easier.
NEXT SEASON
For those of you who want to be part of the
club next year we will be sending out registration forms at the end of this
month asking you to register for the following season with a joining fee. Part
of the deal will be that next season we will be telling those that join that
they will be signing up to play for the club not a specific team. We will also
want only those that do not owe fines or subs and those that have not let us
down in any way this or in previous seasons through poor discipline or
continually crying off late. We will also be looking for Managers to run the
teams that can not only manage the players efficiently but also administer the
collection of subs as the club requires. So if we cant find the right people to
play or run the teams there will a significantly smaller club next year. Its all
about quality not quantity and do you want to be in it?
