Everyone must play in the club colours.
A good set of results despite the
heavy defeat by the 5ths but the 1sts should really have had 3 points from this
one. The goalkeeper pushed away the ball with his hand outside the box with
Lewis Jones all set to score. No sending off and nothing from the free kick so
we were hard done by but we also had several other good chances to score which
would have given us a comfortable win. So into this weeks game against free
scoring Beals nad lets hope we can find the goalscoring touch otherwise it will
again be difficult. The seconds got their league campaign off to a good start
with a comfortable win against Tollys dominating most of the game. They too have
a tough one against Nottsborough in the AFA cup and will need to be at their
best to get a result. The 3rds got their first league win in a tight game
against Enfield. All 3 goals came in the first 20 minutes but we failed to
stretch the lead and so it remained a tense finish but we managed to hold on. By
contrast the 4th team seem to be in a free scoring mode with 8 this week taking
their tally to 15 in 2 games. Neil Harriott was the main sharpshooter with a
hattrick with Trevor Gardiner and Michael Goss chipping in with 2 each. The 5ths
had a nightmare of a game but surprisingly they were 2-0 up at half time! What
happened in the second half I wouldnt like to say but they eventually lost 9-3,
I think there must be some soul searching on that one. The 6ths recorded their
1st league win at Latymer winning by the odd goal in 5. Newcomer Nathan Williams
scored twice to make sure all 3 points were taken. The 7ths suffered from
several players not showing up on the day and so had to borrow from Norsemen to
make a game of it which is what happened losing by 6-4 in the end.
The A Vets lost their cup fixture as
Wandsworth pulled out so a friendly against St Margaretsbury was arranged
and we managed to come out on top by 4-3 with Dean Drummond finding the net
twice and hopefully giving them a boost for their league campaign. The B Vets
were 2-0 down before staging a comeback to draw 3-3 against local rivals West
Essex. It means a good start to their league campaign with 4 points from 2 away
games.
The 200 Club is looking for new members. It costs just
£1 per month per number and there is over £1000 in prize money and it helps the
club's finances. If interested contact Max Lea on 0208 954 0708
