Registration forms should have
been returned by now with the £20 fee, the deadline is 31 October for the
League. Can you ensure you get this to me rather
than me chase you.
If you need to buy shorts and socks you can also get them from me.
Everyone must play in the club colours.
Being away on a cruise meant I am only
now catching up with the goings on from last week. Managed to get to Rome,
Tunis, Monte Carlo, Palermo, Valletta, Barcelona and Majorca in 7 days so it was
a busy schedule but well worth it, so what is the tale this week? The 1st team
won their first competitive game of the season having gone 3-0 up they took
their foot off the gas and allowed Westminster Citz the opportunity to get to
3-2 before a second surge took them through comfortably in the end. With Lewis
Jones and Rob Carroll netting twice it was an important win to get the season
going. The seconds were 4-1 down with 20 minutes to play before they started to
play with style and took the game and the tie away from Leyton County with 5
minutes to go. Craig Chadwick was their hero with a well deserved hattrick to
book their place in the next round. The 3rds had the better of a close encounter
with Suttonians but managed to hold on to a 1-0 win courtesy of an Adam Newman
goal to take them into the next round of the Old Boys Cup. The 4ths struggled to
get a team after an avalanche of late cry offs but they were sure glad they did
as they got through the tie 6-3 at Uffingtonians with Neil Harriott scoring a
hattrick. The 5ths poor start continues this time having gone in 2-0 at half
time they let Edmontonians take control in the second half to lose 4-2. The 6ths
were comfortable in their win over Enfield but the 7ths went to extra time and
then penalties before they lost out to Latymer in their cup tie. Finally the B
Vets struggled again but without a recognised keeper it will always be tough and
so went out of the VFA cup at the first hurdle, the only bright spot was a
couple of late consolation goals from captain Jon Walsh.
The 200 Club is looking for new members. It costs just
£1 per month per number and there is over £1000 in prize money and it helps the
club's finances. If interested contact Max Lea on 0208 954 0708
