The rain played a major part in this weeks games forcing us to go over to Low
Hall, something we havnt done for several years. The pitches were flat and not
muddy but a little on the small side but it didnt seem to adversely affect the
sides that played there. The second team carried on the the good work in the LOB
cup reaching the semi finals after a comfortable win over Enfield. 3-0 up at
half time they settled down to a comfortable second gear in the second half to
cruise through. Dave Stevens popped in another hattrick and James Wood the
other. Since they lost to UCL back in early December they havnt conceded a goal
in the 6 games since. This week is the big one against Norsemen in the AFA Cup
semi finals so we all wish them well for that. It will though be a long season
for them as they still have a potential maximum of 19 games to play.
The 4ths easily overcame Salesians in their semi final of the Old Boys Cup
6-0 to make it six finals for the club so far this season. Like the previous
week they started slowly and were only 1-0 up at half time but the second half
as in the previous week saw them completely dominate and score 5 times more.
Chris Bird scored another 2 to add to his total of 26 for the season so far.
This week sees them return to the LOB Cup away at Cholmeleians. The 6ths went to
Old Owens in their semi final and after starting brightly and taking the lead
the lead they gradually fell away in the second half against a fairly strong
side but their cause was not helped by their home referee which has caused us
issues in the past. The team put on a brave show but in the end it wasnt enough.
This week sees them clash with the 7ths in the LOB Cup, should make a very
interesting game on pitch 6. The 7ths warmed up for that game with a thumping
win over Ravenscroft in the league. 4-0 up at half time they took their foot off
the gas and allowed them back into the game at 4-2. After a roasting from
manager Norman Leat they got back on track to complete a big win which keeps them in touch with
the leaders with several games in hand. The 9ths went to North Wembley to play Manorians and found
themselves 3-1 down before staging a comeback in the second half to get a 3-3
and well deserved draw. The 10ths found themselves up against a useful side in
KICC and whilst the performance was good they were not strong enough to hold
them and lost out 3-1. Ricky Taylor at the back was the MOM.
Onto the Vets and the A vets continue to struggle with another heavy defeat.
Still missing some key players they were just nit good enough to match Great
Berry and lost out 6-1 By way of contrast the B Vets switched their home game
against Low Hall away and it proved to be a good day at the office as they won
7-2, their biggest win of the season. Arnie Howell lead the way with a hattrick
and Darren Braithwaite 2 but overall it was a good solid team performance which
keeps them top of the table.

weekly basis
- Cup
finals double headers and midweek games: So you know there are no subs
charged for cup finals. The subs can be used for travel requirements or a
drink afterwards. Midweek games full subs are charged and double headers ALL
the players involved pay subs. If 17 players or more are used then they all
contribute. You can change as many players as you like between the games. In
double headers each game is of 60 minutes and each side pays the referee
once.
- Cup
Finals, the dress code is either jacket and tie or smart casual or clubwear
such as Polo Shirts. If you require club ties they are £10 each from me.
- CLUB SUPPER / ANNUAL DINNER We are looking at Friday 21 May at Leyton Orient
FC in the new West Stand. Tickets will be around £15 and we are looking for
a good turnout from the whole of the club. So can you make sure you keep
this date free so we can get well over 100 at least to this event. Tickets
will be issued in due course
There are a number of fines owed to
the club for bookings received, can the captains collect them and forward them
